A Sustainable World

At Ferrovial Agroman Australia & New Zealand our company has a corporate responsibility to engage our local project communities, but we also recognise how our actions and international commitment can influence on a global scale. Therefore, through various intergovernmental initiatives such as the Global Compact and the Declaration of the International Labor Organization (ILO), Ferrovial is dedicated to supporting and respecting fundamental human rights, internationally recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The Social Infrastructure programme is twofold: on the one hand the company helps develop various social projects and on the other, employees interested in cooperating contribute their time and expertise to carry out international assistance projects in water and sanitation and technical advice for NGOs.

Ferrovial has invested 3.15 M€ in 2013 and provided technical and technological assistance and expertise in infrastructure development.

Volunteers from across the company are given the opportunity to contribute their experience, knowledge and technical expertise by advising NGOs, both on site and from Ferrovial's offices.

Every year, at least six Ferrovial volunteers travel to project sites for 15 days with a view to improving project efficiency and training communities how to keep installations operational after the project is completed.

As part of this programme, the company has developed water and sewage infrastructure in Ethiopia, Colombia, Peru, Tanzania and Haiti, benefiting more than 153,000 people. The initiative received the 2013 Codespa corporate volunteer programme award, the European Excellence Award 2013 in the Corporate Social Responsibility category, and the Seres 2013 award for Innovation and Social Commitment by Business.
